I joined the Labour Party after Jeremy Corbyn became leader. I am partially sighted so I have some personal experience of the needs of disabled people. I have some understanding of the difficulty able people have in appreciating the challenges faced by the disabled in negotiating what for many people are perfectly commonplace situations.
My main objective is to ensure that the Party is a welcoming and accessible place for everyone, a place that does not make them feel awkward or burdensome – where they can participate, engage, and contribute whatever it is that they have to give to the party. Every individual is unique, valuable and deserves to take part in the labour movement whatever their background and abilities.
