My leftwing life began in the CND folk clubs of the sixties and progressed through art college to the editorial staff of The Observer. I then began a lifelong career as a singer-songwriter, releasing twelve albums and touring the UK, Europe and the USA. I still perform around Britain, songs of peace, the environment and social justice.
During the eighties I was active in CND and also became a Creative Consultant, producing appeals and campaign materials for OXFAM, War on Want and League Against Cruel Sports.
I rejoined Labour when Jeremy Corbyn became leader and have since been active in Cheltenham CLP, and more recently, Extinction Rebellion. I’ve attended three Labour Conferences, one as CLP delegate in 2018. As Policy Officer I hope to encourage policy development among members on a wide range of issues.
