The Social Care system is in crisis, both locally and nationally. We, in the Labour Party, want to change that and ensure that our loved ones receive the best care they can get during their time of need.
In the Labour Party manifesto for the 2017 Gloucestershire County Elections we vowed to support the principles of the Ethical Care Charter, which included:
- ending 15 minute care visits for washing and dressing
- paying care workers to travel between service users
- providing comprehensive training for care workers
- reimbursing care workers properly for travel costs incurred
We believe that upholding these principles will vastly improve our Social Care system for people who need care, as well as for the Care Workers who provide that care day in, day out.
In 2013 a motion seeking the adoption of the Ethical Care Charter by the Tory led County Council was shamefully rejected.
With your support Labour County Councillors will be asking Gloucestershire County Council to search their consciences once again and adopt the principles of the Ethical Care Charter.
