Gloucestershire Live reported Cheltenham Conservative MP commenting on the planned closure of Cheltenham Accident and Emergency here.

‘Cheltenham Labour Party chairperson Joanna Hughes said: “Mr Chalk’s own government are ultimately responsible, because of their consistent under-investment in the NHS and running down of services so as to make the case for privatisation.

“Alex Chalk needs to take a good hard look at his own government before blaming others.

“The Labour message is clear: the NHS is not safe in the Tories’ hands and a no deal Brexit under Boris Johnson is very likely to lead to further closures as services are sold off to American private health companies whose only motivation is profit.”‘
